On 25 November 2020, 22 local communities from around the nation will be featured in the custom Australian Community Relief MONOPOLY game board to unite Australians nationwide and raise much needed funds due to the impacts of various disasters including bushfires, floods and COVID-19. The edition will see locally themed squares replace Mayfair and Park Lane from the original MONOPOLY board and include a customised ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ playing cards, making the entire game a truly Australian experience. As well as showcasing some of the regions that were severely impacted in 2020, the game has also been created to highlight the community spirit and strength of these stunning locations.

NT Primary Health Network (NT PHN) has confirmed that an interim GP service, operated by Arafura Medical Clinics will commence on Thursday 19 November 2020 from the Rocky Ridge Aged Care facility at15 Rocky Ridge Road. The service will operate on Thursdays initially and progressively build up as more GPs are confirmed.

Mayor Fay Miller Announces her Retirement

Mayor Fay Miller has given notice this evening of her retirement from Katherine Town Council, effective as of 30 November 2020. Mayor Miller was diagnosed in March this year with an illness that is manageable, but not curable. As a result of that diagnosis and advice from her haemotologist, Ms Miller will be relocating nearer to medical assistance.

The work will include the demolition of the old shade sail posts and installation of the new structure. Construction is estimated to take approximately nine (9) weeks and to ensure the safety of our community the Adventure Play Park will be closed to public access from Monday 31 August 2020 – Friday 30 October 2020.

With design focused on activation, accessibility and natural shading, preliminary landscaping designs were developed to leverage off existing vegetation. After further condition assessment of the existing trees, it was determined that removal is required. Whilst all existing trees will be removed, Council will be significantly increasing the number of trees on site as part of the natural shade canopy and removed trees will be replaced with suitable, established trees.
