2026 Centenary of Katherine Celebrations 

In 2026, Katherine turns 100 – and we’re marking the milestone the Katherine way: with a full year of events, activities and moments that bring people together across town and the region.

From big celebrations and community gatherings to exhibitions, performances, sporting events and local initiatives, the Centenary program reflects the energy, stories and character that make Katherine what it is today.

The program has been developed by a community-based Centenary Working Group in partnership with Katherine Town Council and local organisations. It’s a shared effort that brings together events run by community groups, businesses, clubs and volunteers throughout the year.

The signature celebration will take place around Territory Day and Gazettal Day, marking 100 years since Katherine was officially proclaimed a town on 1 July 1926.

Whether you’ve lived here your whole life, just arrived, or are visiting for the celebrations, there are plenty of ways to be part of Katherine’s centenary year.
