The Katherine River is one of our town’s greatest assets, and a favourite place for walking, riding, fishing, and relaxing at the Hot Springs. Next Sunday, residents are invited to help care for it by joining our much-loved, annual Great Spring Clean Up 2025.
The clean-up will be held on Sunday, 21 September, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, starting at the Katherine Hot Springs. Volunteers will spread out along the river corridor and surrounding bushland to collect rubbish and prepare for the oncoming wet season.
Katherine Town Council will provide gloves, rubbish bags, and safety equipment. If you find rubbish too heavy or large to bag, you can let staff know the location and a Ranger will organise collection. Better yet, Snap Send Solve it. At the end of the morning, participants will be thanked with a light community lunch.
The Great Spring Clean Up is supported by local schools, volunteer groups, and businesses, and is open to everyone.
For more information, contact Katherine Town Council on (08) 8972 5500 or email events@ktc.nt.gov.au.
Note: Council offices are now located at the old Roper Gulf Council building on Crawford Street while the Civic Centre undergoes refurbishment.
