Be Part of Katherine Town’s Once-in-a-Century Celebration

Katherine Town Council is inviting sporting clubs, community groups, local businesses and vendors to be part of one of the biggest events in Katherine’s Centenary Year.

Expressions of interest are now open for the Centenary Sports Carnival, to be held on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at the Katherine Sportsground, as part of celebrations marking 100 years since Katherine was officially gazetted.

The carnival will celebrate Katherine’s strong sporting culture and community spirit, with opportunities for groups and organisations to showcase what they do, connect with the community and take part in a fun, family-friendly day.

Council is encouraging interested groups to get involved by:

· Hosting mini sports competitions or activities
· Running sports demonstrations
· Delivering workshops or interactive sessions
· Providing community information, health or wellbeing stalls
· Selling food, drinks or other items as a vendor

Mayor Joanna Holden said the event would be an important part of Katherine’s Centenary celebrations and a chance to bring the community together.

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be part of Katherine’s Centenary Year and celebrate everything that makes our town special,” Mayor Holden said.

“Katherine has a proud sporting culture, and this event will be a great way to showcase the clubs, groups, businesses and volunteers that help make our community what it is."

Expressions of interest are open now and close on 31 May 2026.
