This morning, Katherine Town Council CEO Ingrid Stonhill received a resignation from Councillor Ben Herdon.
Cr. Ben Herdon has advised that for personal reasons, including work-life balance, he is moving interstate. The Local Government Act 2019 states that once you no longer reside in the council area you are ineligible to be an elected member.
Council will be liaising with the Northern Territory Electoral Commission and will advise the appropriate way forward to a by-election.
Cr. Herdon has been an elected representative of Katherine Town Council since August 2021.
Katherine Town Council wishes him well in his future endeavours.
