Katherine Town Council welcomed 21 new citizens at the Australian Citizenship ceremony yesterday, where family and dignitaries helped mark the occasion.

The conferees were from seven (7) countries including India, Mauritius, Netherlands, Philippines, United Kingdom, United States and Zimbabwe.

Katherine Town Council Mayor, Lis Clark, said: “Council invites cultural diversity, and it was a great honour to present 21 people, from 7 different countries, with their Australian citizenship”.

“There is no greater privilege than our citizenship. It’s a life-long commitment to Australia’s values of freedom, democracy, equality and respect,” Mayor Clark said.
