CBD Revitalisation Tender Awarded to Local Business

 The CBD Revitalisation – Town Square Project is close to commencement, with the appointment of local contractor, Katherine Constructions.

Mayor Fay Miller said after a competitive tendering process Council has appointed Katherine Constructions to undertake the $3M project.

"This is a positive boost for our community and the appointment of a local contractor will ensure the financial flow-on of this project will have the greatest benefit to our local community," Mayor Miller said.

Construction on the Northern Territory Government sponsored project is scheduled to commence mid-July with work anticipated to be completed by December 2020.

With an aim to activate the CBD, the project will involve the creating of natural shade tree canopy through the accessible square, audiovisual and decorative lighting capacity, cooling misters, a portable café/kiosk and the construction of a new public ablutions block.
