10-year-old Wins Council Esky Prize

Cassius, 10, is the winner of the 35L Yeti prize from council's booth at the Katherine Show. Cassius played the trivia game to get his name in the draw, with some help from his auntie.

"He came home and said I might get a call if he won," Cassius' mum said. "And sure enough I did."

Cassius plans to take his new esky out next time he goes fishing to places like Galloping Jacks.

Council clears hazards on local properties

Council is taking action on properties that have fallen into disrepair. A warrant to enter was enforced in June to clear the fire hazard created by long grass at 80 Lockheed Road.

The property owner had received several notices to comply tickets, which did not receive a response. As the Fire Department deemed the property a fire hazard, council rangers and staff cleared the hazards. Other properties are being monitored and similar actions will be taken when neccessary.

Rates Sent Out

Katherine Town Council has levied rates and residents should be receiving their notices in the next couple of weeks.
