Mayoral Update

Last week I met with a number of business owners, the Land Councils, Jawoyn Association and other community members in town regarding the impact of the current crime statistics.  I have the support of everyone here in town including Victoria Daly and Roper Gulf Regional Councils. I have also sent letters to Ministers and met with a number of Government officials as well as the Acting Police Commissioner. The Police will be conducting foot patrols and the horses here for a couple of weeks. There is a lot of work being done in the background and I am hopeful that Katherine will see some results. I am working the best way I can to make everyone in Government understand what is happening here and I will be pushing for more action rather than talk. This will be something that everyone needs to help with to curb the crime that we have all experienced. Local-led initiatives such as the Katherine Community Projects Association and the roll out of Council's Rapid Response Buggy in the Katherine CBD will continue to provide support to our community.

There is a lot more to be done and I will keep up the pressure.
