Municipal Ranger 

We are seeking a dedicated and community-minded Municipal Ranger to support Council’s animal management and compliance functions.

Reporting directly to the Manager Environment and Municipal, this role is responsible for enforcing Council’s by-laws, monitoring compliance with legislation and policies, and delivering proactive animal management initiatives.

You will undertake a mix of enforcement, education, and community engagement – from issuing infringements and carrying out authorised officer duties to delivering animal management programs that promote responsible pet ownership and community safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Council’s by-laws, policies, and local laws.
  • Monitor and respond to animal management issues across the municipality.
  • Issue infringements and act as an authorised officer under relevant legislation.
  • Implement animal management programs with a strong focus on education and community awareness.
  • Safely handle, trap, and transport animals as required.

Must Have

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services/Investigations) or ability to obtain.
  • Firearms Licence – Categories A & B (or ability to obtain).
  • Qualifications in Animal Management or related field.
  • Accreditation in Behavioural & Training of Dangerous Animals (Dogs).
  • National Police and Working with Children's Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience in dog handling, behaviour, trapping, and transport.

This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $82,018.64 per annum. The role includes generous leave entitlements, offering 6 weeks of annual leave and 3 weeks of personal leave (pro-rata).
