Shaping the future of Katherine’s Sportsground Precinct

Katherine Town Council is inviting you to help shape the future of the Katherine Sportsground Precinct. The project will be funded by the Commonwealth’s Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program.

Our vision is to create a modern, all-weather destination which supports sport, recreation, community gatherings and significant events. A masterplan will explore opportunities to expand and modernise facilities for all sports and to deliver a new indoor wet-season facility. The new facility will target improvements for netball, basketball and hockey. It may also provide a space for other sporting activities, and for NGOs to deliver essential support services to the community during significant weather events or other emergencies.


Ashford Lamaya Architects (ALA) has been engaged to produce an Illustrative Masterplan of the entire precinct, and they’ll be returning to Katherine next week to hear your ideas. Once the masterplan is complete, they will produce a construction-ready design for an all-weather facility which the Katherine Town Council will seek funding to construct.
