It’s time for Katherinites to bring the festive sparkle to their streets and enter the Katherine Town Council Christmas Lights Competition 2026, with $1,000 in prize money on offer.
With the dry season behind us and the wet season rolling in, Council is calling on residents to light up their yard or entrance with their most dazzling display.
A panel of Katherine Town Council elected members will judge entries by Sunday 20 December. Prizes are $500 for first place, $300 for second and $200 for third. Winners will be announced on Tuesday 22 December, just in time for Christmas. Judges will look for overall appeal, dazzling lighting and creative flair.
Residents on rural blocks are encouraged to enter too. If you live in a rural area, festoon your front gate or property entrance – you don't need to decorate your entire front yard to be in the running.
Registrations close Monday 14 December. To enter, click here, or email contactus@ktc.nt.gov.au
