Katherine residents are invited to join their community on ANZAC Day, Friday, 25 April, to honour those who fought for us and our country. Commemorative services and a community march are planned to pay tribute to Australia's Defence Force personnel's courage, service, and sacrifice.

Coordinated by Katherine Town Council in partnership with NORFORCE, RAAF Base Tindal and the Katherine RSL Sub-Branch, the day’s events begin with a Gunfire Breakfast at 5:00 am at the Katherine Country Club. The Dawn Service will follow this at 6:00 am at the Cenotaph on Railway Terrace.

The service will include ceremonial contributions from NORFORCE and RAAF Base Tindal, a mounted Nackeroo, a didgeridoo performance, and a symbolic flyover. NORFORCE’s Commanding Officer will also speak, sharing reflections on the unit’s history and strong ties to the Katherine region.

At 8:30 a.m., community groups and individuals will gather behind the BP on Railway Terrace for the Community March. The march steps off at 9:00 a.m. and makes its way along Stuart Highway before returning to the Cenotaph.

Mayor Lis Clark said ANZAC Day remains one of the most significant days in Katherine’s calendar.

“This is a day for quiet reflection, but also a time for our community to come together to support our Defence personnel—past, present and future. Katherine’s connection to the military is strong and enduring, and Council is proud to support this important event,” she said.

The morning also includes a breakfast hosted by the Katherine Country Club from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m., which is open to all attendees.
