The first rain has arrived, and Katherine Town Council is helping residents make the most of the planting season by bringing back its Native Plant Giveaway.
Council will give away 2000 Top End native plants, and visitors can get gardening advice, view interactive displays and join in activities led by local experts.
Katherine residents can take home up to three free plants per household to help make their gardens, and our community, cooler and greener. You must bring proof of address to receive a plant.
The selection includes flowering ground covers, feature grasses, shrubs that attract birds and butterflies, edible bush tucker plants and native shade trees. Additional plants will be available to buy.
This year’s event will also feature a car boot sale, giving residents another way to practise sustainability by selling handmade creations and giving second-hand goods a new home.
From paintings and crochet to clothes someone else might love, community members are invited to bring along their wares and join a morning celebrating the wet season and greener living.
