Katherine residents are invited to see how the community ideas are shaping the future of the Katherine Sportsground Precinct at an open workshop on Wednesday, 14 October.
Ashford Lamaya Architects will share the findings from recent consultation and present the first masterplan design directions for the 29-hectare precinct.
The workshop will be held at 5.30 pm at the Henry Scott Recreation Centre.
Consultation closed on 30 September, with feedback gathered through an online survey, a community workshop on 7 September and face-to-face stakeholder meetings. The upcoming workshop will show how that feedback has informed the proposed direction for the precinct.
Katherine Town Council secured funding through the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program to plan a modern, all-weather regional sports, recreation and community precinct that also links the Katherine Aquatic Centre with surrounding sporting facilities.
The project has two stages. Stage A will deliver an illustrative masterplan to guide future improvements across the precinct. Stage B will develop a construction-ready design for precinct improvements, supporting future funding commitments for construction.
The project brings together Council, the Northern Territory Government, Katherine-based NGOs, Indigenous organisations, and local sporting and community groups.
