The Joy of Many Colours Katherine Multicultural Festival is back on Saturday, 30th August, from 4 pm-9 pm at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre.

Organised by the Australian Red Cross's Connected Women group and supported by the Katherine Town Council and the NT government, this eagerly anticipated event promises a day filled with colour, flavour, and cultural appreciation.

Attendees can look forward to indulging in a myriad of multicultural experiences, including food, fashion, and entertainment, all aimed at fostering connections and celebrating diversity at this free, family-friendly festival.

The festival will feature four main components:

  • Multicultural Fashion Show: Over 90 models will grace the runway, representing diverse nationalities.

  • Multicultural Food Expo: With over 100 cuisines from more than 25 nationalities on offer, attendees will embark on a culinary journey around the world.

  • Multicultural Show: Showcasing more than 10 captivating cultural performances curated by migrants, First Nations, and the wider community, this segment promises to enchant and inspire.

  • Family Fun Activities: From mesmerising water drumming to interactive cultural games and children's activities like twisted balloons and face painting, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Katherine Town Council CEO, Ingrid Stonhill, said the Joy of Many Colours Katherine Multicultural Festival is an excellent opportunity to interact and appreciate the many different cultures that make up our region.

“Katherine Town Council always looks forward to collaborating with the Australian Red Cross’s Connected Women Group to deliver this popular event.”

Sabeeha Nihad, Red Cross State Manager, said the event prioritises inclusivity and puts people at the forefront.

“We envision it as a vibrant celebration that will enrich our beautiful Katherine community with even more cultural diversity”, Ms Nihad said.
