myKatherine Round 1 Success

The first round of the myKatherine discount program has come to a very successful close.

The $30,000 scheme was jointly funded by Katherine Town Council and the Northern Territory Government, and resulted in over $228,000 in sales to locally owned small businesses in just 23 days.

Since launching on Thursday 19 November 2020, the program saw 31 Katherine businesses and 1,613 users jump on board to participate.
Mayor Lis Clark said, “The myKatherine program has been really well received by both businesses and users. The interest has been fantastic and hopefully there will be even more interest in Round 2.”

The second round will see an additional $60,000 in discount vouchers made available to further support local retail and hospitality businesses.

Round 2 will again be jointly funded by the Katherine Town Council and the Northern Territory Government and is scheduled to commence early 2021.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner said myKatherine and other similar schemes around the Territory have had a huge impact.“We have seen thousands of dollars generated into local economies, which has kept Territorians in jobs and small businesses afloat,” he said.

“The second round of vouchers will be released at a time that is traditionally quiet, so it will give Territorians another nudge to spend their dollars locally.”

Already registered businesses and users will retain their access at the commencement of Round 2. For those community members and businesses who haven’t registered for myKatherine, you can do so in the lead up to round 2 by clicking here.
