The Barunga Festival is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture, music, sport and community. This year, it marked the 35th anniversary of the historic Barunga Statement, a powerful call for Indigenous rights and self-determination. The festival continues to bring people together to honour culture, share stories, and support the journey toward recognition and justice for First Nations peoples.

Location: Barunga, a remote community located approximately 80 km southeast of Katherine in the Northern Territory.
