Councillor Jim King has lived in Katherine since August 1969. He and his wife have two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
From 1970 to 1975, Jim worked in the earthmoving industry before moving into the transport sector, where he operated his own business until 1987. He then purchased Nighthawk Couriers, which he owned and managed until selling the business in 2015.
Elected to Katherine Town Council in 2025, Jim brings more than four decades of business and industry experience. He believes Katherine ratepayers want their Council to focus on the core responsibilities of local government—roads, rates and rubbish—and he is committed to working with his fellow councillors to deliver on these priorities for the community.
