September 2022

  • Sept 07 – STARS students from Katherine High School attended Children’s Storytime and read a Kriol version of Mem Fox’s Where is the Green Sheep? to celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day.
  • Sept 09 – the library collaborated with other children’s organisations from around town to present a story and craft at Play 2 Learn for Child Protection Week.
  • Sept 21 – Boof the Barra visited children during Storytime as part of Water Safety Week. To acknowledge the Queen’s passing, we decided to dress up for this very special visit by making our own crowns.
  • Sept 27 – Kellie ran two very popular introductory sessions creating Tiny Art as part of the Katherine School Holiday Program. We had 64 participants throughout the day and several other people have taken canvases to complete at home. Completed canvases should be returned to the library by Saturday 08 October when staff will display as part of our first Tiny Art Show. Patrons will have the chance to vote for a winner in four age categories, including adults.
  • Sept 28 – Young adults and staff from NT Friendship/Respite spent the morning in the library creating Tiny Art pieces to enter in the exhibition.
  • Sept 29 – Hailey Hardy will present our second Seniors NBN session discussing Smart Devices. These sessions will run once a month until May 2023.
