The third and final workshop session will focus on surface decoration techniques, including working with under glazes, ceramic stains and ceramic pencils. The Daughter is a contemporary adaptation of Norwegian playwright's Henrik Ibsen's classic play The Wild Duck that deals with truth, family bonds and the repercussions of secrets across generations. It was adapted by established theatre director Simon Stone in 2011 for the Belvoir Theatre and reimagined once again as the screenplay for his film directing debut.
In the last days of a dying Australian logging town Christian (Paul Schneider) returns to his family home after a fifteen year absence for his father Henry's (Geoffrey Rush) wedding. He reconnects with his childhood friend Oliver (Ewen Leslie), who has stayed in town working at Henry's timber mill and is now out of a job. As Christian gets to know Oliver's wife Charlotte (Miranda Otto), daughter Hedvig (Odessa Young) and father Walter (Sam Neill), he discovers a secret that could tear Oliver's family apart. As he tries to right the wrongs of the past, his actions threaten to shatter the lives of those he left behind years ago.

18-27 May 2017
Mataranka will come alive on May 18-27 as the Never Never Festival returns to the region for 10 days of fun. The Never Never Festival embraces and celebrates the diversity of the Never Never and is a tribute to Jeannie Gunn's famous 1908 novel "We of the Never Never" which was responsible for putting Mataranka on the international stage. The town has united to showcase the magic of the Never Never extending the Festival over two weekends this year. The family friendly festival will be full of culture, music, food, art, dance and sport.
With a stellar cast including renowned Territorian Ted Eagan, (Fri night 18th May for “Back to the Never Never Theme Night”); multiple world record holder whip cracking extraordinaire and Mataranka local, Nathan Griggs; and double Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain (Sat night 26th May), NNF 2018 is not to be missed.
Cricket and netball fun is followed by RODEO action on Sat 19th. A cracking good time is to be held the next morning at the Mataranka Markets Sun 20th – food, craft, art, produce, music, jumping castle, whip cracking and more – plus the announcement of the recycled Garden Art competition. During the week stop and enjoy the countless attractions Mataranka has to offer before immersing yourself in a weekend of horse sports – campdrafting at its fineness.

Town of Katherine
The town of Katherine is the fourth largest in the Northern Territory, situated 320 kilometres south-east of Darwin on the beautiful Katherine River.
Katherine is often called the 'Crossroads of the North' as it is located on the junction of the Stuart Highway linking with the north and south and the Victoria Highway to Western Australia.
With a population of close to 10,000 people it is a thriving regional centre to an area as big as the state of Victoria, providing services to communities from the WA border to the Gulf of the NT.
