Media Release - International Day of People with Disability Morning Tea Postponed - 26 November 2021

It is with huge regret that a decision has been made to postpone International Day of People with Disability Morning Tea, due to take place on Friday 3 December 2021, because of the current Covid19 lockdown that the Katherine community is facing.

The safety of all involved is of the upmost importance. Council hope the Katherine community can all understand the reason for this decision. Mayor Lis Clark said ‘While postponing the morning tea was not our ideal outcome, we want to ensure that the community is in a safe place, and we are able to acknowledge everyone within the disability community without restrictions’.

It is not all bad news though! Council is looking to reposition this event to take place early in 2022 and will confirm with all those involved once a new date is set. We are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of people with disability in the community and announcing the winners of the International Day of People with Disability Awards. An event not to be missed!
