Best Regional and Remote Category – Winner Katherine Public Library

Katherine Town Council has made the news and is proud to announce its success at having received an award at the annual The Northern Territory branch of ALIA – Australian Library & Information Association.

Mayor Lis Clark says that she knows how hard the library staff worked to achieve the award and to be judged the best in “Invigorated Library Services”, is a joy to behold.

“In the past 12 months, after a significant change in staffing and management, the Katherine Public Library set out to re-invigorate library services in all aspects. The physical space has been renovated with a dramatic change in layout and a new conference room has been built for community groups”

Mayor Clark mentioned that programs have been reviewed and refreshed with a renewed focus on community events including Pride Storytime, Seniors Photography Exhibitions, Intergenerational Storytime, NAIDOC week events, 3D printing and a local author book fair.

We are all aware how library staff have worked tirelessly in 2021 to refresh and renew library services providing positive outcomes for the Katherine community.

“Katherine public library continues to strive for excellence in customer service and is looking forward to offering a number of events and programs in 2022”
