Katherine Town Councils Christmas Lights competition is now open!
In the spirit of Christmas, Council would like to recognise our community members that decorate their homes with Christmas lights each year and encourages them to enter this year’s competition.

- 1st prize - $500
- 2nd prize - $300
- 3rd prize - $200
Registrations for the competition have been extended until the Sunday 12 December, with judging to commence between 17 and 18 December 2021. Winners to be announced on 21 December 2021.
“The Councillors and I are very excited to support this year’s Christmas Lights Competition. Our town is always beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments every year. That is why this competition is held, to encourage community members and give them an opportunity to keep decorating and win a prize” Mayor Lis Clark said.
“I hope to see more houses this year being decorated and participating in this competition to celebrate this festive season” she added.
Entries are open to all residents within the Katherine Municipality area and only one entry will be accepted per house.
Entries will be judged on the following:
- Presentation, general appearance, layout, and design
- Light – use of colour, form and composition, variety, and repetition
- Creativity, innovation, and passion.
- Importantly, does it reflect the spirit of the Christmas season?
