Exercise ROGUE AMBUSH 21-1

Exercise ROGUE AMBUSH 21-1 is an Air Force exercise which will be conducted out of RAAF Base Darwin and RAAF Base Tindal from 15 June to 2 July 2021.


Air Force will deploy various aircraft and over 300 personnel to participate in the exercise.


Aircraft and personnel will begin arriving from 15 June, with flying activities to commence from 18 June.


Residents and the local community are advised to expect heightened military flying operations in the area.


Flying Times


Throughout ROGUE AMBUSH 21-1, aircraft will be flying during week days. There will be no night time or weekend flying activities.

Information will also be provided on Air Force social media, and through NT media outlets and key community groups such as local Councils.


Aircraft and Personnel


The following aircraft and personnel will be based at RAAF Base Darwin:


• Up to 10 x F-35A Lighting II from No 2 Operational Conversion Unit
• Up to 2 x E-7A Wedgetail from 2 Squadron
• Up to 1 x KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport from 33 Squadron


The following aircraft and personnel will be based at RAAF Base Tindal:
• Up to 8 x F/A-18A from 75 Squadron
• Up to 6 x Hawk 127 from 76 Squadron


Designed to produce combat ready personnel ready to deliver air power for the joint force in peace and war operations, the Exercise is the final phase of the six month operational conversion courses for F-35A Lightning II pilots and E-7A Wedgetail co-pilots and aircrew.


Exercise ROGUE AMBUSH 21-1 will see the graduation of the first four F-35A pilots to be trained in Australia on Operational Conversion Course.
