Council Vacancy Filled

Tonight, Katherine Town Council appointed Kym Henderson to fill the recently vacated position of Alderman.

The vacancy was created through the early retirement of previous Mayor Fay Miller and the subsequent appointment of Elisabeth Clark to the position.

In December, Council resolved to seek Expressions of Interests from eligible community members to fill the vacancy with seven (7) submissions received.

Mayor Elisabeth Clark stated “The appointment of Kym to the Council will have a younger representation from a long term local. We look forward to working positively together for the remainder of the term.”

Ms Henderson’s appointment with Katherine Town Council will commence on Wednesday 3 February 2021 until the next scheduled Local Government Election in August 2021.
