Operations Manager

Permanent Full Time 

Level 7 (Suitable salary for the right candidate) 

6 weeks annual leave, 3 weeks sick leave

 + Contribution to Superannuation and some overtime/out of hours work required

Position Context 

This position reports directly to the Executive Manager of Infrastructure and Environment and facilitates the achievement of Council’s corporate objectives by developing, maintaining, and coordinating effective delivery of infrastructure services and asset management for Katherine Town Council.
The role of the Manager Operations exists to assist the Executive Manager Infrastructure and Environment with a broad range of local government engineering activities relating to Airport operations, Waste management, roads and pathways, drainage structures, parks and open spaces and fleet maintenance.


This position is responsible for overseeing the successful day to day operations of the Airport and Waste Management Facility, managing staff and leading teams to deliver excellent outcomes.


The role includes forward planning of works, liaison with external authorities in relation to future works or projects, consolidation of various engineering-related programs, understanding and ability to execute appropriate engineering standards for implementation within Katherine Town Council and ensuring that the various engineering operations of Council are contained within budgetary constraints and time schedules.
