2 November – 15 December
Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre
This exhibition is a free event.
This exhibition marks the 20 year commemoration of the 1998 Katherine flood. This unprecedented weather event caused widespread devastation in the Katherine region, including the destruction of property and infrastructure, as well as loss of life. It also saw the Katherine community come together, demonstrating characteristic resilience and comradery. This exhibition reflects on the flood, the significant place it occupies in the collective memory of Katherine, and the ways it has played a part in forming the identity of our community and our town. The exhibition will include documentary as well and artistic representations of the flood, and will involve Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists of the region.
