Media Release: The Hot Springs Tender Out

posted 28-May-2019

KATHERINE HOT SPRINGS

Katherine Hot Springs has been a hot topic for the community and Katherine Town Council is happy to announce that the tenders process has opened and will close May 31st and we plan to award the tender shortly after.

Works are scheduled to commence on stage 1 in July, followed closely by Stage 2 starting Mid October, with the project concluding at the end of 2019.

Katherine Town Council understands that this has been an overly long process and would like to identify that we have kept busy over the past 3 years, undergoing numerous studies and engaging consultants to undertake:

  • Geo-Technical Global Slope Stability Studies
  • Civil & Structural Compilation Studies
  •  Architectural & Landscaping Compilation Studies
  • Documentation of works
  • Gaining all necessary approvals

“Katherine Town Council believes it has adopted and incorporated the responsible approach to a long awaiting panacea with the proposed works to commence in July 2019” Joe Tag, Project Manager

Despite the construction works occurring Katherine Town Council are happy to confirm that swimming will not be affected during this time, however, alternate routes will need to be taken. Katherine Town Council requests the community’s cooperation and understanding during this time and request that all alternative access signage is adhered to.

Katherine Town Council acknowledges that this projects duration has been much longer than expected and we appreciate the patience of the Katherine Community. We look forward to making the final touches on this magnificent community asset.

If you would like to keep up to date on this project please send your details to contactus@ktc.nt.gov.au and thank you for your patience.
