Growing green little thumbs at Story Timeposted 04-Apr-2018
Katherine Public Library welcomed Ms Lis Clark as the guest Story Time reader. Ms Clark has a passion for horticulture, having spent 30 years in Katherine running her horticulture business, The Bush Nursery. She continued her outdoor garden enjoyment by leading the Museum Gardens volunteer group for 12 years.
This morning Ms Clark was able to read to the children and educate youngsters about the seed library. The Seed Library is free service the Katherine Public Library offers with a range of fruit and vegetable seeds anyone can borrow and replace once you have harvested seeds.
“Thankyou for the opportunity to be a guest reader and bring together the library programs of Story Time and The Seed Library” said Ms Clark.
Ms Rajni Bala, the Library Program Coordinator organised the event to encourage all children to learn about gardening and to grow their own food. “Gardening gives children good physical and mental health and helps children to grow into adults who care about the environment” said Ms Bala.
Please contact the library if you are interested in learning more about The Seed library.
Story Time is a free event, held Wednesdays 10.30-11.30am for 3-5 year olds.
