Bushfire under control at Katherine Waste Management Facilityposted 12-Jul-2018
Yesterday afternoon, a grass fire which started on non-Council land, spread onto Council’s property at the Waste Management Facility. This caused a large amount of bushland at the site to burn, generating a lot of smoke. NT Fire and Rescue Services attended and completed backburning to prevent further spread of the fire. The fire is currently under control and is not expected to reach the tip face. People in affected areas are advised to close their doors and windows and avoid the smoke by staying inside.
